Bowen Technique

Lucy provides Bowen therapy for both people and horses. Bowen is a neuro-muscular treatment from Australia. It is a gentle, non-invasive but highly effective approach to relieving backache, frozen shoulder, ankle and knew problems and sports injuries.

Rolling of the muscle, ligament or tendon stimulates the nervous system allowing the brain to talk more efficiently to the body. This releases areas of tension, reduces inflammation and eliminates pain and stiffness.

Bowen is suitable for adults and children, including newborn babies and the elderly.

What does a treatment involve?

A treatment will take an hour. At your first appointment I will take a full medical history and details of any current medication as well as details about your current symptoms in order to build as full a picture as possible. I will take notes in order to be able to assess progress at each treatment. For new problems it is generally helpful to book a block of 3 treatments about a week apart. Generally 3-4 treatments are often enough to bring lasting relief, although if the problem is long standing, it may take a little longer. Many clients choose to have regular treatments every 4-6 weeks in order to keep flexible.

The treatment can be performed on skin or through light clothing (such as t-shirt and leggings). You will never be asked to remove underwear. The treatment can be performed lying, sitting or standing, depending on which is most comfortable for you at that time. Your comfort and needs are my priority and all treatments will be specifically tailored to deal with your symptoms.
