I am a 5 Element Practitioner of Acupuncture, and have been practicing here at the Alternative Health Clinic since it opened in November 2000. I was a student of The College of Traditional Acupuncture in Leamington Spa and subsequently attended York College of Acupuncture to study TCM for one year. I also studied Naturopathic Medicine in London for a further 2 years part-time.

One of the main obstacles to restoring health today is that the majority of modern systems of medicine concentrate only on treating symptoms. If you have pain, most practitioners will probably give you something to ease that pain. If you are lucky, it may ease it a little or perhaps temporarily it will disappear. But the real purpose and significance of the symptom has been ignored. We realise that any pain, physical, mental or spiritual is a distress signal from the body, mind, or spirit and nothing more, they are not the disease itself, but indicators from the body of an inability to compensate for what is going wrong. It is through these symptoms that nature calls for help.

Chinese Medicine theory tells us that nature constitutes 5 Elements Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, Wood, and as a 5 Elements Practitioner of Acupuncture, it is my job to determine which of the Elements is most out of balance, and to treat accordingly, to balance those Elements within the body.

Acupuncture is the insertion of fine needles into the skin to stimulate Qi or energy to move. Some of the Acupuncture points are easily related to the Western model of the nervous system and others not. But by stimulating energy at these points, causes a change, encouraging the body into homeostasis or balance. Once in balance the body is more able to heal itself and that is my goal.
